Do I need to be strong or fit to start Judo?
Not at all. You dont need to be particularly strong or fit to begin Judo. Your fitness, strength, balance and coordination will naturally improve as you train. Judo is about using good technique rather than strength.
What should I wear to my first class?
For your first session, comfortable sports clothing such as a T-shirt and shorts or leggings will be suitable. Once you continue with your Judo training, you will need a Judo suit, known as a Judogi.
Is Judo dangerous?
Like any sport, Judo carries some risk, but safety is a major part of our training. Students are taught how to fall correctly, how to perform techniques safely, and how to train responsibly. Our instructors carefully supervise sessions and ensure that techniques are taught at an appropriate level.
Can I try a Judo class before joining?
Yes! We encourage new members to come along and experience Judo for themselves before comiting to regular training. Contact us to find out about our trial sessions and arrange your first visit.
Can I compete?
Yes, Competition is an exciting part of Judo, but it is completely optional. If you are interested in competing, our coaches can help prepare, and guide you through the process.
